2009 United Way Campaign Awards

Our team has supported the United Way Campaign each year we’ve been in business. Each year one of our team members volunteers to be the campaign chair. They go through United Way training, plan and facilitate our campaign rollout, education and wrap-up.

Today, while attending the 2009 Dane County United Way Campaign Celebration Wrap-up, we learned our team won 7 awards for organizations with 5-25 employees. The awards are:

Community Chest Award (largest percent increase in employee giving)

Employee Engagement Award (highest percent participation [100%] in an employee campaign)

Red Feather Award (largest dollar increase in employee giving)

Platinum Award (employee gifts averaging $250 or more per employee)

Best Practices Award (organizations that execute all of the following strategies and have an overall increase in giving):

  • CEO publicly supports campaign
  • Organization implements campaign volunteer structure
  • Organization campaign leaders attend training
  • Organization makes campaign fun and engaging
  • Organization promotes Leadership Giving
  • Organization distributes personalized pledge forms
  • Organization allows employees to use payroll deduction
  • Organization educates employees about United Way and results achieved through the community’s Agenda for Change
  • Organization has retiree and new hires program
  • Organization has a thank you program once campaign is completed

Campaign Awards of Distinction (given to campaigns of at least $500 last year that increased 25% this year)

Participating Companies Award

Our commitment to the United Way from a corporate, management and team member perspective, as evidenced by the above awards, is very strong.

What surprises me is how many of our at least twelve local competitors DID NOT participate in this year’s local Campaign. Of the four that did participate, one of them won an award. I challenge all of our competitors to step up to the plate and become involved in this event. It’s not too late to become involved in the 2009 campaign. After all, this community gives each of our companies something by hiring our consulting services.
