Hanging out with a Sauk Prairie Memorial Hospital Surgeon
September 11, 2009 · by Tammy Adler
This evening I had the pleasure of hanging out with a Sauk Prairie Memorial Hospital surgeon, his wife and son.
This past June the Sauk Prairie Memorial Hospital hosted a fund raiser consisting of a golf outing and silent auction. I was unable to attend the golf outing, but pleased in the evening to attend the silent auction.
Each year, at the auction, the surgeon and his family donate an evening pizza party, to raise money for the hospital. I collaborated with seven other women to bid on the pizza party.
I’m not a person who is very lucky. I rarely, if ever, win anything. Imagine my surprise when, at the end of the auction, our group was called as the winner!
The eight of us gathered on September 11 at the doctors’ house. The weather was perfect and the setting extraordinary as we sat on his patio. He, his wife and son cooked, in their outdoor stone pizza oven, eight thin-crust pizzas for us, serving them one at a time accompanied by soda, beer, wine, salads and dessert.
Now I know what past winners raved about. Our hosts are some of the most gracious people I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. What a wonderful gesture to open one’s home to others and raise money for a wonderful cause at the same time.
Tony is truly an unselfish man and, of course, a wonderful surgeon….
