MAC Mini???
February 12, 2009 · by Tammy Adler
You must be kidding me.
Our team has begun working on very exciting outsourced projects in our office.
This work necessitates we build a continuous integration infrastructure for our projects ensuring we deliver on our customer promises.
One of our team members specked out what this environment should look like in the near term and well into the future providing me, as a non-technical person, with detailed business information listing pros/cons, pricing and recommendations for how to proceed.
I’m an old n-tier client-server developer who loves Intel-based, Unix development. Imagine my surprise when they suggested using MAC Minis. I almost had to ask for a paper bag to breathe in. It was almost hilarious because of my discomfort. Luckily for our team, I’m a firm believer being uncomfortable builds character. The objective here is not to see how comfortable I am, rather to select the correct infrastructure for now into the future. If that’s the MAC Mini, I’ll get over being uncomfortable.
Good thing, because we purchased our first MAC Mini server Tuesday evening. I’ll admit I almost laughed hysterically when I saw how small it is, and I’m proud I didn’t hyperventilate…..
