Salvation Army Bell Ringing
November 22, 2008 · by Tammy Adler
Today, at the very good suggestion of one of our team members, we volunteered, for the entire day, ringing the Salvation Army Bell at JC Penney at West Towne Mall. We began at 10:00 am and stopped at 8:00 pm. Team members rang in one or two-hour shifts, some of them doubling up, some of them bringing along family members. I was pleased to see everyone’s enthusiasm to participate in the event. I’ve always known we have a great team. It was really great having team members bring along their families. I heard how much fun team members had, how gratifying the experience was, how teenagers shopping in a group each gave a dollar, how young children asked their parents for money to drop in the kettle, how people gave $1, $5, $10 or $20, and how they want to participate again next year in this worthwhile event.
It’s wonderful that, while in tough times like those the US is currently experiencing, people dig deep into their hearts and pocket books to help out others for the betterment of all mankind.
