YWCA Circle of Women
July 1, 2009 · by Tammy Adler
When the YWCA called, I felt compelled to rise to the occasion.
When asked today, by a fellow female business leader, if I would consider being a part of the UWCA’s Circle of Women campaign and fund raiser, I never hesitated in my answer.
The YWCA is respected throughout the community and is:
- The largest provider of affordable housing for low-income women in Dane County
- One of the oldest providers of emergency shelter for homeless families in Dane County
- A recognized leader in comprehensive employment and training programs for low-income women and minorities
- Committed to helping individuals, organizations and companies improve race relations and find ways to eliminate racism through constructive dialogues and meaningful actions
- Empowering girls to reach young adulthood healthy, strong, and confident by giving them the skills and the guidance to make healthy choices
More specifically, the YWCA’s Circle of Women event was conceived as a way to encourage philanthropy among women and provide an opportunity to network with others from diverse social, ethnic, economic, educational and cultural backgrounds.
This years’ event, held February 18, 2010 at the Exhibition Hall at the Alliant Energy Center, will again celebrate the power of women’s philanthropy. Event guests will hear from women whose lives have been changed by the YWCA Madison. Guests will also discover how their gift benefits women and their families in our community.
Please consider joining me for this worthwhile event.
