- Strong leadership, planning, organizational and communication skills
- Mentoring and guiding developers
- Conducting internal design and code reviews
- J2EE
- OO, Design Patterns, and application design and architecture
- Web Services and SOA
- UML
- Ant, CruiseControl, Maven and Continuous Integration
- Eclipse, WSAD, or another IDE
- Struts or comparable MVC framework
- Spring
- Application Server such as JBoss, WAS, BEA or Tomcat
- JUnit and Test Driven Development
- Hibernate
- Log4j
- SQL
This position designs, architects and integrates client software systems, working with the development team to ensure the system meets client requirements. Decisions consist of which frameworks and tools to utilize and how to structure them to optimize team productivity. Mentoring team members is an important role for this position. Architect will also participate in coding and testing as time permits. Knowledge of development best practices, including continuous integration and test-driven development is important, as well as a long-term vision for process improvements.
